London Polytechnic Water Polo Club
2000 World Masters Water Polo Championships in MunichIn September 2000 Poly participated in the World Masters Water Polo Championships. We entered two teams one in the over 30 category and the other in the over 35 category. It must be said that the over 35s were a far more handsome lot than the over thirties, were also better players and consumed far more alchol. But, for the kids in the over thirties team, there is still time...The tournament took place in Munich at the Olympic pool where Mark Spitz won a record seven gold medals. The facilities where very good, but the organisation left a little to be desired. A serious shortage of officials delayed some of the starts, and the refereeing was not as good as one could have expected. Still a good time was had by all. The women were a little odd. They were very large and stoney and kept standing on their hands. Here is Punchy showing off with one he pulled earlier... we said "Teutonic" Punchy, NOT "tectonic"! |
